Abohar Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over an area of 18,650 hectares, Abohar wildlife includes farmlands of 13 Bishnoi villages. Bishnoi community is doing every bit to protect the black buck deer of the locality, the indigenous antelope. The blue bull also known as the Neelgai, which they also consider scared is also a part of this initiative. Black buck can be seen moving freely through the villages and homes. The typical flora of wildlife is tropical dry mixed deciduous forest. Some other animals like Porcupines, wild boars and black ducks are also found here. The best time to visit is winter season as summers are very hot and winter receives heavy rainfall. Buses, taxis and cars are easily available from Fazilka to reach the sanctuary. The sanctuary was established under the 1972 Wildlife Protection Act in 2000.
